Kodama is a rabbit Companion Pet Glitch belonging to Phil Altiere. Its game of origin is unknown.

Biography

Kodama was captured in a wide, open field among real rabbits in Dabney by Phil Altiere. Because it was captured by a Glitch Tech outside of their own territory, this resulted in a long-standing feud and personal rule among Phil and Dabney's Store Manager Joan Fishback that such would never happen again.

After it was captured, Phil intentionally withheld or erased all information about Kodama from the Glitch Techs database to prevent anyone from knowing about it. He also kept Kodama as a Companion Pet ever since, which requires spending enough XP to convert it into one via the HQ skill tree. By present day, he uses an image of himself with Kodama as his office computer screensaver or desktop background.

When Barbara visited the Bailley Hinobi Store for a routine inspection, Phil led her around. While in the locker rooms, Kodama was inside an open locker, which Phil quickly shut to prevent it being seen.

After Mitch Williams was trapped in the locker rooms by the lockdown triggered by Ridley releasing Glitches into HQ, Kodama was hiding inside a pile of clothes while he tried to free himself.

When the Sock-Em Rockers Glitches manifested, Phil was sleeping in his office cuddling Kodama. When their presence was detected, Kodama woke him up.

Personality

Kodama is "extremely clingy", and all it can do is run around and say its own name. It is energetic and can be seen roaming the Glitch Techs Headquarters on its own.

Appearance

Kodama is a small Glitch that resembles a rabbit. It has yellow fur with a white underbelly and round, fluffy tail. Its eyes are pink, its right ear is chipped, and it has sharp teeth.

Trivia

• He is seen several times around Glitch Tech headquarters for only a few seconds at a time. Kodama wasn't given a proper introduction until "The Real Glitch Techs".
  • He or a very similar glitch caused the glitch alert of "Find the Glitch".
• Kodama's name likely originates from one or both of the following:
  • A type of Japanese spirit (or yokai) that inhabit and resemble trees. If they are cut down, they will curse the one who felled them.
    • Because of this, coupled with its inability to say anything other than its own name, Kodama is likely inspired by both the Pokémon franchise and Yo-kai Watch, a game loosely similar to the former that focuses on befriending, collecting, and battling yokai.
  • Reiko Kodama, a video game artist, director, and producer who worked for Sega. She is primarily known for her work on RPGs, including Phantasy Star, 7th Dragon, and Skies of Arcadia, provided artwork for Altered Beast and Sonic the Hedgehog, and is recognized as one of the first successful women in the video game industry.
• Phil uses an image of himself with Kodama as his screensaver or desktop background for his office computer.
