So I believe Dan Milano mentioned on Twitter that Miko is NOT artificial intelligence after all. But why is she the only person in town not to be mind wiped?! I mean we can't just say she suffered brain damage! That's just too boring! Here's two different theories I thought of:
Theory 1: Remember when Miko said "Delete my browser history" when when Chomp Kitty was approaching her. Well perhaps Miko was just a normal human gamer girl, who used to have black hair naturally like her mother and her kid sister Lexi. Perhaps Miko could secretly be a master hacker, making her a juvenile delinquent. Out of curiousity, she must've hacked into Hinobi's servers to see what secret games they've hidden for years. Then she comes across a mysterious one named Bolypius. She booted it up on her PC, and all of a sudden, just like Polybius the game Bolypius was based on, Miko's mind got manipulated abnormally. And one physical change was the color of her hair turning bright shades of pink and violet. Miko's parents noticed the condition Miko was in, and a Hinobi Glitch Tech team showed up to solve the problem ,as the theme song says (ha ha). Anywho, they were able to mind wipe her parents, but were unable to wipe Miko's mind. So they told her parents before mind wiping them that all they'll remember is to protect Miko at all costs and makes sure she doesn't play too much video games. Her parents were also unwilling to let Miko join the Smash Jab tournament having a hunch that it could end up baldly for her. This seems alot like the origin story of Freakazoid and Danny Phantom.
Theory 2: Miko's mother Mayumi could be revealed to be one of Hinobi's top secret agents, just like Mitch. While Mayumi was fighting against the all powerful glitch persona known as Bolypius, if he were a physical villain in the show. And just when Mayumi was about to make the final blow, Bolypius shot a beam right at her, which little did she know at first placed a computer bug inside of her making it so her next born child (after Nica) will be part Glitch and will soon do Bolypius' bidding. As soon as Miko was born, Mayumi noticed her baby had gleaming and weirdly colored hair, when she finally discovered that Bolypius was behind this making her part glitch. Years later, while growing up, Miko suddenly gotten into playing video games since her big sister Nica had gotten her into it, which really worried their mother Mayumi, since she thought the more Hinobi games, Miko plays, the more close she'll be with Bolypius, similar to how Raven's evil father Trigon wants her to do his bidding, but Raven is strong enough to resist. So Mayumi strictly makes a limit to Miko's gaming time. Then while Miko turned 16, when Mayumi discovered her daughter being one of the town's most elite gamers had just entered the Hinobi Smash tournament, Mayumi tried everything she could to keep Miko from remembering since she can't mind wipe her. Since the tournament was during a busy schedule for the family, Mayumi thought Miko would be safer if Miko accompanied them. However, Miko found a way to ditch them, and entered the tournament from home. So Mayumi and the rest of the family rushed home to see if Miko was okay, if she was attacked by any glitch. Then Miko woke up and explained what just happened. Mayumi, being the only one to understand what Miko witnessed, pretended not to believe her, and sends her to her room grounding her from technology to prevent any more danger from happening, similar to how in Gravity Falls Grunkle Stan pretended not to believe Dipper about the supernatural things in town just for his safety. Later that day, after Miko and Five defeated the Chomp Kitty glitch, Phil and Mitch arrived explaining how Miko and Five's gaming skills and successfully capturing glitches have gotten to work for Hinobi's Glitch Techs team, which Mayumi immediately accepted, since Miko can now use this position to fight for the greater good, and one day be prepared to take on Bolypius. Then when Miko's parents' were about to be mind wiped, Mayumi blinked at the right moment so she won't be mind wiped since she's an agent as well. Not to mention Miko had a hunch that she could be "The One" who will save the town from wild glitches. Mayumi also reminds Miko that she should stay focused on her job, since not only does Miko show apparent signs of ADHD, but she wanys her to stay safe and make sure Bolypius won't get a hold of her. And that mysterious voice that the Hinobi inspector was contacting while they were talking about how Miko and Five could one day be perfect recruits to take on Bolypius. This mysterious person could probably be Miko's mom Mayumi since the inspector said she used to be a Glitch Tech before, and was also most likely Mayumi's partner. It can't be Mitch of course since he's Miko and five's arch rival while capturing glitches, being an anti heroic antagonist. Perhaps it'd be niteresting if Mitch would become Bolypius' mindless slave. and another thing, Mayumi relies on Five to be there to protect her daughter Miko since he's now her best friend.
These theories seem pretty accurate, but after thinking hard, it seems theory 2 could most likely be how the show will turn out to be! Eric Robles did say that the show will have a story arc soon!
